Collection: Aragonite from Sicily
Giumentaro Mine in Capodarso, Enna Province, Sicily, closed around 1984. Its aragonite is regarded worldwide as a classic of the species. The crystals are pseudo-hexagonal prisms formed by cyclic twinning, in soft mint to grayish green, with excellent translucency and a sharp luster, often accompanied by bright yellow native sulfur. Under UV light they glow pink, with a phosphorescent afterglow.
