Collection: Fluorite from Moscona Mine

Moscona Mine, at El Pontón de Solís in Asturias, northern Spain, is one of the country’s best-known fluorite localities. Its fluorite is famed for transparent yellow cubic crystals, from honey to golden yellow, with sharp faces and a bright luster.

What sets Moscona apart is the variety of its fluorescence. Under UV light, crystals from the same locality can glow goose-yellow, purple, or a deep, intense yellow, and no two pieces look alike. The fluorite often grows with calcite and barite; here the calcite is mostly grayish-white with a soft, warm luster, and just as attractive to display.
