Collection: Barite from Monteponi Mine, Sardinia

Monteponi Mine, near Iglesias in Sardinia, appears in 14th-century records and reached its height in the 19th and 20th centuries as a major lead-zinc district. It now sits within Sardinia’s Geomining Park. Its barite forms champagne-colored, translucent tabular crystals in radiating clusters that fuse into open, sculptural forms, glowing amber where light passes through.
