Some sculptors work with a chisel. Others take a hundred and fifty million years.

In the warm Jurassic shallows of Nattheim, Germany, colonies of coral polyps grew outward with near-architectural discipline — each branch dividing into three, each of those three reaching further still, building a form both intricate and untamed. This is nature's oldest sculptural method: no blueprint, only patience.

This specimen of Thecosmilia trichotoma remains exactly as it was found — unpolished, unetched. Its raw surface is its only signature. The angle, density, and rhythm of its branching skeleton form a shape that cannot be replicated. No two are alike.

It needs no polishing to be worthy of display. It was already finished, long before it was found.

Set on a desk or in a case, it speaks not of decoration, but of time made visible.
